Walter H. Yoswig, age 84, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
. He is survived by his wife, Juanita; one son; Rodney (wife Pia) Yoswig of Pleasant Plains; one daughter, Brenda (husband Rich) Mogensen of Springfield; three grandchildren, Kristen & Ryan Mogensen, and Alexis Yoswig; two step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; brother, Ed (wife Sharon) Yoswig; and one niece and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Emma Yoswig; a brother, Bob Yoswig. Walter was born August 11, 1928 in Springfield, the son of William and Emma Scheina Yoswig. He married Juanita Poe on March 25, 1951, and had a loving relationship for 61 years. Walter worked for Sangamo Electric for over 30 years. He then worked for Farm Supply delivering propane and later for Arena Food in Springfield as a Truck Driver.
He graduated from Lanphier High School in 1946. Walter served for the U.S. Army during the Korean War.He was a member of the Elm Street Christian Church in Springfield.
Visitation will be held at Elm Street Christian Church on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 8:30 AM until time of service there at 10:30 AM. Rev. Seth Schnautz will be officiating. Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville.
Memorials can be made to the “Elm Street Christian Church Building Fund” or the American Cancer Society. Mott & Henning Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
