Robert Carl Yoakum of Athens died Monday, October 29, 2007 at his residence.

Survived by:Wife : Connie Step-children – Debra Huse of Kansas City, KS

Douglas (wife Shirley) Tavender of Greensburg, KY

Rodney Tavender of Springfield Brother – Richard “Bub” (wife Carol) Yoakum or Athens

Sister – Corrine June Minikin of Athens Five Step-grandchildren Two Step-great Grandsons Several Nieces and Nephews

Mr. Yoakum was born January 12, 1936 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Carl and Alma Lucille White Yoakum.

He married Marjorie Baines on July 23, 1955 at the Athens United Methodist Church. She preceded him in death on April 18, 1986.

He later married Connie Tavender on December 24, 1987 in Springfield.

Mr. Yoakum served for the National Guard from 1955 until 1962.

He was employed at Sangamo Electric Co. for 18 years and later worked for Sunstrand for nine years and was a foreman there for five of the years. He also worked for Vickers for seventeen years and was a foreman there for 7 years.

Mr. Yoakum was an avid NASCAR fan and loved gardening and his dogs.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens
