Gary Dean Yard, age 65, of Sherman, died Saturday March 15, 2008 at his residence.

Survived by: Wife – Sandy Children – Troy (Tammy) Yard of Sherman Monte (Jolyn) Yard of Sherman

Four Grandchildren – Miranda, Jacob, Alex, & Rylie Brother : Jack (Carol) Yard of Franklin, NC

He is preceded in death by his parents Chancy & Helen Yard.

Gary was born February 5, 1943 in Taylorville, Illinois, the son of Chancy & Helen Billiter Yard.

He married Sandy Polistina on November 16, 1963 in Williamsville.

Gary graduated from Elkhart High School and farmed in the Fancy Prairie/Elkhart area for many years. He sold seed for Northrup King and sold oil for Archer Oil.

He was a 4-H leader for eleven years, was on the Logan County Farm Bureau Board for thirteen years, and was on the FS Board for eleven years. Gary also was on the Elkhart Homecoming Committee for several years, Elkhart Community Unit School Board, and was a member of the Broadwell Christian Church. He coached T-ball and little league for several years.

Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, March 17, 2008 at the Mott & Henning Funeral Home. Services will also be held there on Tuesday, March 18 at 10:30 AM. Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.

Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville

Memorials can be made to the Memorial Home Services, American Diabetes Association, or to the American Kidney Association.
