Wyvonne Thompson (88) of Fancy Prairie passed away August 5th at St. John’s hospital. She was born to the late Dwight Evan and Garnett Maria (Totten) Turner, November 28th, 1932 in Mason County, Illinois.
Wyvonne graduated from Lincoln High School in 1951.
She married James “Pat” Thompson in 1956 and enjoyed most of their married life in Menard County.
Wyvonne is survived by her husband, four children: Jim of Fancy Prairie, Mark (Brenda) of Sherman, Don of Fancy Prairie and Debbie “Angella” of Athens. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Wyvonne was predeceased by her parents, sister Rosalie Knollenberg and brother Estell Turner.
Wyvonne worked with her husband farming and running their business. Later in life she worked for the State of Illinois.
She was a member of The American Legion Auxiliary. Her two favorite pastimes were celebrating wedding anniversaries in Hawaii and watching the Chicago Cubs.
Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Vianney Catholic Church in Sherman, Thursday August 12th at 10:00 AM. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. The burial will take place at Camp Butler National Cemetery.
In Lieu of sending flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Land of Lincoln Honor Flight.
