James W. Wiker age 69, of Athens died Friday October 17, 2008 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.
He is survived by: Wife : Marlene Sons – James R. Wiker (Sally Agnew) of Greenview
Jeff (Violet) Wiker of Athens
Daughter- Mona (Tom) Aiello of Athens
Two Granddaughters : Emma & Ellen Wiker
Three Sisters : Bettie (Herrell) Lewis of East Alton Bonnie & Mary Wiker of Athens Mr. Wiker was born March 7, 1939 in Athens, the son of John and Florence Glenn Wiker. He married Marlene DeYoung on November 5, 1960 in Springfield.
At the time of his retirement Mr. Wiker had been a custodian for nearly thirty years at Athens Community School District.He was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Wiker loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter, trapper, fisherman and gardener.
Visitation will be Monday from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Mott & Henning Funeral Home and where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday.
Rev. Don Neisler will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
Memorials contributions can be made to the “Friends of Sangamon Valley” (a local nature & wildlife organization), 1619 S. Pasfield, Springfield, IL 62704, Athens New Life Church, Athens or a Charity of Choice.
