Judy Jean Vance, 70, passed away at her home at 4 a.m. Sunday, February 8, 2015, with her husband and family by her side.
She was born June 24, 1944, in Burlington, Iowa, the daughter of Olen and Ruby (Dady) Richards. She married Marvin Vance on Aug. 24, 1963, in Burlington, Iowa.
Judy graduated from Burlington High School in 1962. She was a stay-at-home mother for many years and later worked at NCCI and AIG Insurance after her children were grown and her family moved to the Springfield area. Her most coveted role was that of Mom and Grandma.
Judy grew up in the First Church of the Nazarene in Burlington, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School. She was a member of Athens Christian Church at the time of her death.
Judy was preceded in death by her father, Olen, two infant brothers, Ronald and Jimmy, and her grandparents.
Surviving Judy are her husband, Marvin; three sons, Tracy (Janet) of Fairfield, Iowa, Troy (Sandy) of O’Fallon, Missouri, and Trent (Tina) of Troy, Missouri; daughter Ticara (Michael) Turley of Springfield, Illinois; 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, her mother, Ruby; three brothers, Jerry (Esther) Richards of Marshalltown, Iowa, Dennis Richards, and Michael (Verna) Richards of Fort Madison, Iowa; and her beloved Boston Terrier, Danielle Chloe.
Visitation is from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Athens Christian Church, 1411 E. Route 29, Athens, Illinois.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday at Athens Christian Church, the Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Athens Christian Church, 1411 E. Route 29, P.O. Box 260, Athens, IL 62613.
The family is being served by Mott & Funeral Home in Athens, IL.

Marvin, I just wanted you to know what a blessing it was to be pastor to you and Judy, even if it was just for a short time. Judy was special person and will be missed so much. But we know that she is now free of pain and suffering and will be waiting for us to see each other again one day. You and your family are in my thoughts and my prayers. God bless you and give you peace this day and every day.
