Vera Loraine Rhodes, age 95, of Williamsville, passed away on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Memorial Health Care in Springfield, Illinois.
Loraine was born on August 26, 1928 in Knox County, Illinois the daughter of Willis C. and Nora Lee (Jones) Beard.
She married Charles Rhodes on November 9, 1947.
Mourning her passing are, three sons, James Rhodes of Louisville, KY, Richard Rhodes of Riverton, IL and David (Tobey) Rhodes of Windsor, CO.; three daughters, Margaret (Gary) Stroisch of Williamsville, IL, Doris (Bob) Anderson of Williamsville, IL, and Linda (Jeff) Dial of Estancia, NM; twelve grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Charles; three brothers, Loren, Lovae, and Lawrence Beard; and daughter-in-law, JoAnne.
Loriane graduated from Williamsville High School.
She worked as custodian for the Williamsville State Bank and Williamsville Christian Church.
Loraine was an active member of Williamsville Christian Church.
She enjoyed spending time in the flower garden, sewing, reading, and working jigsaw puzzles. She spent many years rocking daycare babies and watching the children play.
Visitation for Loraine will be held on Wednesday, October 25, 2023 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 10:00 AM also at the funeral home. Burial will be held immediately after the services at Fancy Creek Cemetery near Sherman, IL. Rev. David Beals will be officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to Williamsville Christian Church.
Mott & Henning Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Love and prayers to all the family. So many memories of family gatherings with Aunt Loraine and Uncle Dusty. We have all been blessed by Aunt Loraine’s life–her gentle, giving spirit has been an inspiration over many years. I thank God for her life.

We’re praying for all of you cousins who have to be without Aunt Loraine’s physical presence for now. Her legacy is rich, and you know better than the rest of us. We love her and we love you guys ❤️

We’re so sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Rhoades. I always enjoyed visiting with her on her porch. She was a very kind and gentle person.
