Delbert Dale Tobias was born November 18, 1926 on a farm near Fancy Prairie, in Menard County, IL. He was the son of Thomas and Rosa Weidhuner Tobias. September 13, 1952 was the beginning of a beautiful love affair when Delbert and Marilyn Lois Cantrall were married at the Athens United Methodist Church. He began farming, as a 10 year old, milking cows and helping with other chores and learning to love the land. He continued farming his entire life. Delbert was a US Army veteran and member of the American Legion.
He is survived by his wife. He was blessed with a son Ron and daughter-in-law, Kathy, beloved grandchildren Becky and her husband Matt, Jeff (Kelsie), Kevin and great grandson, Easton. A sister Darlene Davis, survives and brother-in-law Harold Caldwell and several nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Evelyn Caldwell and Lucille Elliott, preceded in him in death.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 10:00 until time of funeral services at 11:00 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.
Rev. Don Neisler will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
Memorials can be made to the Athens Food Pantry.

Ron, so sorry for your loss! If a man is close to his dad, he then has learned many valuable things from him. As we get older those things keep coming up in our day to day lives. So there is no way that our dad ever leaves us. Only in body and unfortunetly, we cannot keep them indefinitely. Very sorry! randy
