Paula Jean Thompson, age 80, of Williamsville, passed away on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Villa Healthcare in Sherman.
She is survived by her five sons, John (Tracey Beaulieu) Thompson of Decatur, Danny (Patty) Thompson of Williamsville, Randy (Kathy) Thompson of Williamsville, Kent (Diane) Thompson of Williamsville, and David (Dawn Rena) Thompson of Williamsville; sister, Juanita Yoswig; two brothers, Ralph (Freda) Poe of Gibson City and Ronald E. Poe of Andrew; sister-in-law, Helen Poe of Sherman; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Paula is preceded in death by her husband, Walter on February 20, 2004; brothers Richard Poe in 2000, Robert Poe in 2011, and Kenneth Allen Poe in 2014.
Paula was born on January 23, 1934 in Elkhart, IL the daughter of Kenneth Harold and Edith Lucille Powell Poe.
She married Walter E. Thompson on September 17, 1950 at the Williamsville Christian Church.
Paula retired from the Secretary of State in Illinois in July 1999 after 18 years of work. She also served as the Williams Township Tax Assessor for 15 years. Paula was a member of the Williamsville Christian Church and the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed shopping, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at the Mott & Henning Funeral Home. Services will be held at the Williamsville Christian Church on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM.
Rev. David Beals will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery
Memorials can be made to the Williamsville Christian Church or Williamsville Fire Department.
Mott & Henning Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

So very sorry for your loss. Paula and I were great friends during high school and our younger days. I had the pleasure of visiting with her at the Villa before she took a turn for the worse. She was an exceptional person and I know she will be missed by all but am sure all that knew her will have wonderful memories to always keep her present in our hearts. May God be with you all and bring you comfort.
