Thomas Leroy Tobias of Sherman, passed away on Monday, March 6, 2023 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield. Tom was born June 17, 1933 in Athens, Illinois. He was one of seven children, born to Henry and Frieda (Ackerman) Tobias.
He married Marilyn Cooper on December 3, 1960 at Williamsville Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; two sons, Thomas (Linda) Tobias of Wisconsin and Todd (Rhonda) Tobias of Williamsville; one sister, Amaryllis; seven grandchildren, Justin, Jacob, Wil, Tommy, Joey, Sam, and Olivia; two great-grandchildren, Isaac and Hayven; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and three sisters.
Tom graduated from Williamsville High School in 1951, served in the U.S. Army for 2 years, and then attended Illinois State University and received a bachelor’s degree. He worked for Commercial Credit and later went to Illinois National Bank where he retired as Vice-President in 1995.
Visitation for Tom will be held on Friday, March 10, 2023 from 10:30 AM until time of funeral services at 12:30 PM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sherman. Burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery near Springfield immediately after the services.

Dear Marilyn and family….so sorry to hear about Tom. But he did receive his crown of glory. No more suffering or tears, just joy of eternal life! I can’t be there Friday (procedure at the hospital) but will be praying! God bless, Pastor Stuenkel
