Lola Theodor, age 94, of Chatham, formerly of Athens, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2013 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield. She is survived by two sons; Gerald (Barbara) Theodor of Edwardsville, IL, Charles (Diane) Theodor of Chatham, IL; grandchildren Denise Edmiston, BJ Fitschen, Jeri Goes, Charles Theodor, Cyndi Lucier, Susan Wilcox, Jason Theodor, Jodi Irvin, John Theodor, Julie Broyhill and eleven great-grandchildren.
Lola is preceded in death by her husband John in 1981 and a daughter Barbara Fitschen in 1973; her parents; two brothers Clarence and James Manning; and one sister Ava Grubb.
She was born April 30, 1919 in Bunker Hill, Illinois, the daughter of Lemuel Bird and Phoebe Halliday Manning.
Lola married John Theodor on November 30, 1940 in St. Charles, MO.
She enjoyed bowling and playing cards along with being a member of the Athens Christian Church. After she retired in 1979 from the Secretary of State, she volunteered at St. John’s Hospital for many years.
Visitation will be held on Monday June 24, 2013 from 4 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL.
Funeral services will be held there on Tuesday June 25, 2013 at 11:00 AM.
Rev. Ken Gennicks and Ron Ferricks will be officiating.
Burial will be at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
Memorials can be made to the Athens Christian Church or SPARC of Springfield, IL.
