Terry Lee Crivea, age 53, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2025, at his residence after a long battle with health issues. We know that he is no longer in pain. He is with God, surrounded by loved ones who have passed, including his beloved dog, Kuno.
Terry was born on August 21, 1971, the son of Kenneth Crivea and Linda Hodgson (Chastain). He attended Athens High School. He later married Paulette Caylor (Lynch), who created his greatest love, his son, Anthony. In 2005, he moved to the Tampa, Florida, area, where he resided for many years and could often be found enjoying singing his favorite songs on stage at a local beach hangout. He later moved to The Woodlands, Texas, to experience the other side of the Gulf of Mexico and spend time with family. Then, he transitioned to Rock Springs, Wyoming, where he spent time exploring the Rocky Mountains and the Pacific Coast to “just clear his mind.” Terry was a lifelong learner who enjoyed discovering new places and meeting new people. After many life adventures, he eventually found his way back home to Illinois.
He leaves behind a legacy and will be missed by survivors: son, Anthony Crivea; grandson, Anthony “AJ” Crivea Jr.; sister, Kelli Hamilton (Crivea); brother-in-law, Justin Hamilton; nephew, Dodge Hamilton; father, Kenneth Crivea; mother, Linda Hodgson (Chastain), and many other extended family members who had touched and impacted his life, especially his Aunt Carole and Uncle Kirk.
He is preceded in death by grandparents Emery Chastain, Lucille Chastain (Bierbusse), Rita Crivea (Davis), James Crivea, Lyle Leach, and his believed “guardian angel” and uncle, Dennis Cameron.
Visitation for Terry will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2025 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral services at 12:00 Noon at Mott & Henning Funeral Home, Athens, Illinois. Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville immediately after the services.
