Suzanne E. Bless

Suzanne Bless, age 71, passed away on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

Suzanne was born on October 26, 1953 in Chicago, Illinois. She was raised by Robert and Ethel (Eddy) Marten.

She married Larry Bless on July 8, 1977 in the courthouse in Springfield, Illinois.

Mourning her passing are her husband, Larry; son, Travis (Jennifer) Bless; two granddaughters, Karlie and Khloe; sisters-in-law, Connie (Randy) Brownfield, Beverly (John) Burns, Janet (Mike) Langford, Donna (Randy) Tibbs; one niece, Amanda; two nephews, Cole and Connor; and half-brothers and half-sisters. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ethel Marten. 

Suzanne graduated from Athens High School in 1971.  

She worked for Franklin Life Insurance Company for a couple years and later for the State of Illinois for nearly 38 years.

Suzanne attended Living Faith Baptist Church in Sherman. 

She enjoyed knitting, watching television, and especially attending her granddaughters sporting events.

Visitation for Suzanne will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Funeral services will also be held at the funeral home on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 10:00 AM. Burial will be held immediately after the services at West Cemetery in Athens. 

Memorial contributions can be made to St. Judes Children’s Research Hospital, ASPCA, Shriner’s Children’s Hospital, or the Animal Protective League (APL).
