Willis Smith, age 89, of Sherman, formerly of Williamsville, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
He is survived by his daughters, Cheryl (Mark) Block of Petersburg and Martha (Neil) Mutzbauer of Denver, CO; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces & nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Billie in 2003.
Willis was born April 18, 1923 in Excelsior Springs, MO, the son of Lester and Zona Hutchings Smith.
He married Billie Fletcher on January 24, 1947.
Willis drove for Mid-American Trucklines for most of his life. He later retired from Mid-American Trucklines.
During WW II he was stationed in Germany while serving for the U.S. Army.
Willis loved to farm, gardening, and to play golf.
Visitation will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home on Monday, January 28, 2013 from 10:00 AM until 12:00 noon.
Graveside services will be held immediately following the visitation at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville.
Memorials can be made to Leukemia Foundation in lieu of flowers.
