Sharon Lee Elizabeth Murray, age 73, of Springfield, passed away on Monday, August 8, 2023 at Memorial Health in Springfield.
Sharon was born November 25, 1949 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of John
“Jack” and Betty Holland Murray.
Sharon grew up in Athens and graduated from Athens High School, Lincoln Land College and University of Illinois.
She was a retired Horticulturist for the City of Springfield and was a Teamster for Local #916. Sharon was a 4-H horse advisor, horse show judge, equine massage therapist, vet assistant, horse trainer, and a riding instructor. Sharon was the first female working foreman in Open & Heavy Construction in Illinois.
She is survived by two brothers, two sisters, three nephews, two nieces, and one grand-
niece.
Sharon is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Raymond and Elizabeth Holland.
Sharon is a member of the Roanoke Southern Baptist Church in Springfield, Illinois.
Graveside services will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery on Saturday, August 19, 2023 at 1:00 PM.
Memorials can be made to the Roanoke Southern Baptist Church in Springfield, IL.

So sorry for your loss. I remember going out to the house on 29 when I was friends with Sally. We rode horses all the time. Great memories. Our prayers are with your family.

Sharon was a great friend and advisor for many years I got to know her as she opened her shop and through its many changes she will be greatly missed by those who knew her and her wisdom and advice will be greatly missed by those who sought it out

I am so sorry to hear about Sharon. I have known her most of my life and loved her to death. Her parents and mine were great friends too. She will be missed but welcomed with love in heaven. Sending my thoughts and prayers to her family.

So sorry to hear of Sharon’s passing. We were good friends while at Athens High School but like most of us pursed separate interests. Sharon’s many talents & knowledge will be missed by many. My heart goes out to all of her family & friends, past & current.
