Sharon Lee (Grant) Barnett, age 72, of Athens, left her earthly home and entered eternal rest on Friday, July 29th, 2016.
She joins her parents, Forrest and Corrine Grant and her brother Sidney Grant who have gone before her.
Sharon was born on 10/1/43 in Springfield, Il. She was a graduate of Athens High School and married her high school sweetheart, Terry D. Barnett on 12/17/61. Their love and devotion to each other over the past 54 years has made a strong, lasting impression on their family.
Sharon was a homemaker and devoted mother of Dawn (Greg) Muller of Cantrall and Stacey Barnett of Springfield. Sharon was the proud grandmother of Grant (Erin) Muller of Long Beach, CA, Courtney (Dale) Wiedeman of Chatham and Haley Muller of Cantrall.
Sharon enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, collecting dolls and Precious moments. She liked to sip a cup of cappuccino and watch the birds in the morning. She loved freshly polished nails especially when the manicure was done by her granddaughters. She loved to decorate and celebrate the holidays and loved to travel and take family vacations. Her favorite trips were taking her grandkids to Branson every summer.
She loved cheering on the Chicago Cubs with her husband. You would find her front and center at any event that featured her children or grandchildren.
The most important thing to Sharon was her faith and her family. She was a lifelong member of the Athens Christian Church. She always looked forward to attending church and then gathering together with family in her home for Sunday dinner. She was very loved and respected by her family and will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 1, 2016 from 10:00 until 11:30 AM at the Athens Christian Church in Athens. Funeral services will be immediately following at 11:30 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Athens Christian Church or Athens High School Fine Arts Boosters in her honor.
Burial will be at Hall Cemetery in Athens.
