David D. Shanle, of Athens, passed away on August 28, 2007 at his residence after an extended illness.

Survived by: Wife : Debbie of Athens Step-Daughter : Emily Hudson of Springfield Two Daughters : Lindsay Shanle (Matt Schlobohm) of Springfield Lacey Shanle of Springfield

Sister : Sandy (Bob) Swan of Athens Two Nieces – Melinda (Kyle) Mayes of Rochester Kendra (Tate) Jones of Rochester

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Shanle was born on April 11,1948 in Springfield the son of Russel and Opal Yoakum Shanle. He married Debbie Neibert Hudson on October 8, 1994 in Springfield.

Mr. Shanle graduated from Athens High School in 1966 and from Illinois State University in 1972.

He worked at Fiat-Allis, Lehn & Sink in Lincoln, and was a SAP software engineer with Ernest & Young and The Inc. Group. He was also a self-employed software engineer. After retiring, he worked at Landscape Concepts.

Dave was a Cardinal, Illini, and Chicago Bears fan and collected Lionel Trains. He enjoyed spending time with his family and gardening outdoors.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 1, 2007 at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 10:00 to 12:00 before the services at Mott and Henning Funeral Home in Athens.

Burial will be at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
