Carl Henry Schmidgall, Jr., age 81, of Springfield, died Saturday, August 30, 2008 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Carl was born May 6, 1927 in the township of Springlake in Illinois, the son of Carl Henry, Sr. and Eula (Cameron) Schmidgall.

He is preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Eugene, and several Aunts & Uncles.

Carl made a home and raised a family on a farm outside of Cantrall. He was known to his friends and family for his humor, generosity, and integrity. Carl enjoyed hunting, traveling, ballroom dancing, and spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren.

He served for the US Army during World War II and was stationed in Germany.

We will miss his advice when we are in doubt, his comfort when we are down, and his direction when we are lost.

Visitation will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home where friends may visit from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Wednesday. Funeral Services will be held at the Athens Christian Church at 9:00 AM on Thursday.

Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating. Burial will be held at Makinaw Township Cemetery.
