Sandra “Sandy” Barnes-Cody, age 58, of Auburn, passed away on Tuesday April 4, 2017 at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
She is survived by children, Tina Hackwith, Shannon Hackwith, Nicholas Hackwith, and Jody Fuchs; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; three brothers; and one sister.
Sandy is preceded in death by her mother, Lois Hackwith; and brother, Kenneth Barnes.
She was born on March 31, 1959 in Havana, Illinois.
Sandy loved working for Denny’s, Perkins, and Steak N’ Shake as a server for many years.
She enjoyed Bingo and spending time with her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Sunday April 9, 2017 from 4:00 until 6:00 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.
Burial will be held at Sugar Grove Cemetery near Sweetwater.
Memorials can be made to the “Sandra Barnes-Cody Memorial Fund”.

Few things in life will ever affect us more deeply than the death of a parent. Not only do we have to endure the intense pain of loss but we are also left to face a future that will likely be quite different from what we had expected. The Bible assures us that death will be no more. May such promise help you to cope with the loss of your Mother. My deepest sympathy to each of you.

Jody: we are so sorry to learn about your mother’s passing. Lida told us about it when we went to eat dinner at Toni’s. We will keep you in our prayers. We miss seeing you at Toni’s on Saturday nights. Take care. From the three church ladies and the occasional guy you served.
