Boyd W. Russell, 89, of Athens, passed away on March 10, 2012 at Auburn Nursing & Rehab in Auburn.

He is survived by his son, James Russell of Athens; two daughters, Bonnie Russell of Athens and Maralyn (Dale) Hammond of Litchfield; a sister; Dorothy Berkshire of Lincoln, several nephews and great nieces & nephews

He is preceded in death by his wife, Anna on May 20, 1990, his parents, and two brothers Bud and Billy.

Mr. Russell was born April 3, 1922 in Glen Carbon, Illinois the son of William and Mabel (Davis) Russell.

He worked at Allis-Chambers, Arhenkiel Motors, and at International Harvester for many years.

Mr. Russell attended the Conservation Corp Camp during World War II.

He enjoyed racing stockcars and restored older cars and bulldozers.

Visitation will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home on Thursday, March 15, 2012 from 10 to 11 AM with services following at 11.

Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.

Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to donor’s charity of choice.
