Russell A. Allmon

Russell A. Allmon age 91, of Sherman, Illinois, passed away on Friday July 21, 2023, at Springfield Memorial.

Russell was born July 29, 1931, in Divernon, IL the son of Melvin and Sarah (Collinson) Allmon.

He married Anna Allmon and she preceded him in death in 2005. He married Bobbie Shippen in 2018 in Sherman.

Mourning his passing are, his wife, Roberta “Bobbie” Shippen; son, Robbie (Natalie) Allmon; four grandchildren; three sisters, Marie Anderson, Irene (Edward) Cravens, Violet (Albert) Hinds; brother, Everett (Marilyn) Allmon; several nieces and nephews and then later in his life, Russell also was blessed with  five stepdaughters, Francine, Karen, Charlene, Roberta, and Mary.

He is preceded in death by his wife Anna Allmon; his parents; and siblings, Samuel Heaton, Leroy Allmon, Thelnora Leigh, and Melvin Allmon.

He attended Williamsville High School until he joined the U.S. Navy serving during the Korean War.

After leaving the service he worked his entire career as a union carpenter, working all over the United States.

He loved woodworking.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date.  Burial of ashes will be held in Denison, Texas.

Cremation rites will be accorded.
