Ronnie Lee Beal, age 70, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.

Ronnie was born on September 28, 1948 in Athens, IL the son of Alfred and Esther Buhr Beal.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy of 50 years; daughter Liz (Johnny) Bishop of Rochester; son Nick Beal and companion dog Cisco of Athens; two grandchildren, Nathan (fiance Kelly) and Dalton Bishop; one great granddaughter, Karissa Bishop; one sister, Mary Jane (Tom) Rath of Cole Camp, MO; two brothers, Robert (Vickie) Beal and Roy Beal both of Springfield; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

Ronnie is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Ray, and mother in law, Mary Lawson.

Ronnie worked for Griffiths Construction for 24 years.

He was a member of the Route 66 Cruisers.

Ronnie was an avid collector of cars, Coca Cola memorabilia, he loved rebuilding muscle cars and racing at Shaheens Speedway.

Visitation for Ronnie will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018 from 5-8 PM at Mott and Henning Funeral Home.

Celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorials can be given to Menard County BLS.

  1. So very sad to hear of Ronnie’s passing. Prayers for Nancy as well as Liz and Nick. He was a great guy and will be missed by everyone.

  3. We are co sorry about Ronnie’s passing. He will be missed by a lot of friends. Ronnie was one of a kind, he could do anything from building a home to building a race car, or a custom car.Ronnie always has a beautiful yard and kept it looking good. God must have had a job that only Ronnie could do and called him home.Ronnie you was and still are a winner in my cloudy eyes.

  4. He was a great guy. Whenever I would go to uncle Johnny’s and he was there he would always ask me how I’m doing. I loved that. I’m gonna miss him.
