Ronald L. Schemmer, age 83, of Williamsville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday March 2, 2025 at his residence.

Ronald was born on November 9, 1941 in Williamsville, IL the son of Oscar and Hermina (Miller) Schemmer. 

Ron married Barbara Harms on July 18, 1964. She preceded him in death in 2018.

Mourning his passing are his children, Greg Schemmer of Williamsville, Doug Schemmer (companion Kim Conaway) of Chatham, and Lynn Schemmer of Springfield; six grandchildren, Jennifer and Dustin Schemmer, Sam and Sydney Schemmer, Kanedy and Keenan Schemmer; and one great-grandchild, Emma.  

He is also preceded in death by his parents; and daughter in-law, Laura Hage Schemmer.

Ronald graduated from Williamsville High School.

He farmed in the Williamsville area during his entire life. His hard work and passion for farming was evident in everything that was special to him; it was his truest passion. 

Ronald was an active member and past president of the Sangamon County Farm Bureau and was a member of the Agricultural Leaders of Tomorrow. He served as trustee for the Williamsville Fire Department and served on the board of Culver “RCM” Co-op for many years. 

In his younger years he was an active member of the 4-H and enjoyed showing cattle. He loved hunting ducks; boating, (especially at the Lake of the Ozarks). He liked going to the Indy 500 with his family and his “Indy” family for many years. Ronald was also fond of fall drives to the Illinois River and taking crop tours with his wife and family.

Visitation for Ronald will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025 from 4:00 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Graveside services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville. Following the graveside service, please join the family for a meal in celebration of his life at the Williamsville Community Center at 141 W. Main Street, Williamsville, IL.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Williamsville Fire Department or Sangamon County 4-H.
