Ron Weidhuner, age 76, of Athens, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born on July 18, 1942 in Fancy Prairie, IL the son of Fred A. and Lena F. Miller Weidhuner.

Ron married Karen Nichols on June 30, 1963 and they spent 55 wonderful years together.

Ron is survived by his wife, Karen Weidhuner; three daughters, Tami (Thad) Olson, Diane (Mike) Meador and Tara Weidhuner; two brothers; Delbert (Linda) Weidhuner and Fred (Helen) Weidhuner; one sister, Evelyn (Roger) Beeler; seven grandchildren, Taylor (Cassie), Traci, Trevor and Trent Olson, Joshua, Rachel and Caleb Meador; three great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, William Weidhuner; and three sisters, Katherine Peddicord, Doris Curry, and Gloria Felton.

Ron was a member of the Athens Christian Church.

Ron was an avid Cubs fan, loved corvettes and enjoyed playing golf with his friends.

Visitation for Ron will be held on Wednesday, October 24, 2018 at the Athens Christian Church from 9-11 AM. Services will immediately follow at 11 AM at the Athens Christian Church in Athens, IL.

Rev. Ken Gennicks will be officiating.

Cremation rites have been accorded.

Memorials can be given to the “American Cancer Society for Pancreatic Cancer.”

  1. Karen and family, I am so sorry to hear of Ron’s passing. I always admired and respected him. Loved bowling with him in the 70’s. He was a true Christian and will be missed greatly.

    I am so sorry to hear the passing of your father, husband, grandfather. The few times that I was lucky enough to talk to him was a great memory for me.     So sorry to hear of your loss. My cousin who lives in Springfield saw it and told me of Ron’s passing. I didn’t know Ron well, but during the few encounters I had with him I was impressed by his kindness. He will be greatly missed by all.
