Robert W. Jones, Sr. age 78, of Athens, passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Robert was born July 6, 1940 in Springfield, IL the son of Charles D. and Marjorie Younger Jones.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law Sherry (Ron) Furman of Cantrall, IL; and a son Robert W. Jones Jr. of Maryville, IL.; his grandchildren Cory (Kassie) Furman of Cantrall, IL, Keaton (Destini) Furman of Cantrall, IL, Abigail “Rosie” Furman of Cantrall, IL, five great grandchildren, Baron, Alanah, Ronnie, Wakely and Ellie; three brothers, Charlie, John and Carl Jones.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife Julia; two sisters, Betty and Mary and one brother David.
Robert was owner operator of Jones Painting Service for nearly 48 years. For the last two years Robert was a loader operator and scale operator for Bedrock Materials in Springfield. He was also a member of the Westside Christian Church in Springfield. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Robert also loved listening to Rush Limbaugh. Robert will be remembered for the love of his family and especially his three grandchildren whom called him “Papaw.”
Visitation for Robert will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 9-11 AM at Mott and Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL. Services will immediately follow at 11 AM at the funeral home.
Burial will be held at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens.
Rev. Gary Winkleman will be officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be given to Westside Christian Church.

My condolences to my Uncle Bobs family. It had been a long time since I saw my uncle but he was always so much fun & a great joy to be around. He was by far “my all time favorite uncle”. May you Rest In Peace.
