Robert W. Furman, age 90, of Riverton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.
He was born on July 9, 1933, in Springfield, IIlinois, the son of George C. and Dora (Roseberry) Furman.
Robert married Lorraine Brashear on July 27, 1956, in Springfield, IL.
Mourning his passing are his children, Pamelia (Steve) Christine of Riverton, Robert G. Furman of Florida, and Laurie Cogburn of Texas; grandchildren, Josh (Amaya) Christine of Sherman, Kari Christine of Riverton, and Danielle Cogburn of Washington; great-grandchildren, Karli Christine, Hailey and Katelyn Furman, Emma, Brody, and Griffen Christine.
Robert is preceded in death by his wife, Lorraine; grandson, Justin Furman; parents, George and Dora Furman; brother, Gene Furman; and sister, Helen Grieme.
Robert graduated from Riverton High School in 1952.
He owned and operated Furman’s Paving before retiring to Florida.
Robert proudly served in the U.S. Air Force from 1956 to 1961.
He loved his family dearly and was surrounded by loved ones at the time of his passing. He was a dear friend to many throughout his life and never knew a stranger. Robert had a love for old cars and his prize possession was a 1932 Ford Five Window Coupe that he has owned since 1960.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and warmly remembered.
Graveside services will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery, near Williamsville, on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, at 11:00 AM. Military honors will also be conducted.
