Robert C. Shartzer, Sr., age 75, of Athens, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at his residence.
He was born April 25, 1946 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Richard and Gladys (Goodrich) Shartzer.
He is survived by special friend and caregiver, Susan Skaggs; sons, Robert “Bobby” C. Jr. and Michael; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Richard Shartzer and Bill Eden; special friends, Tiffany Morrell and Alyssa Painter.
He is preceded in death by two sons, Christopher and William; and special friend, Jeff Picheral.
Robert worked for the railroad, New Salem State Park, and Menard County Courthouse. His hobbies included cooking, pool darts, and gardening.
Cremation rites will be accorded and burial will take place at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.

Bob & I were childhood friends raised in the same neighborhood. All of us kids had a lot of fun playing cowboys & Indiana,. Building club house & playing cards those were good days .rest in peace
