Richard Withers

Richard Gene Withers, age 40, of Petersburg, passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2025 at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

 Richard was born January 31, 1985 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of George, Jr. and Mary J. Withers.

 Mourning his passing are his children, Tucker, Wyatt, Maci Withers; mother, Mary J. Withers; siblings, Bobby (wife Beth) Withers, Don, Ronald, Jolene, and Robert (wife Jen) Withers; and nephews, Colin and Liam Withers.

 He is preceded in death by a son, Grant and his father, George Withers, Jr.

 Richard graduated from PORTA High School in 2003. 

 He was an Owner and Operator for Withers Concrete and Illini Fur Buyers. Richard was also a member of local #18 and local #477.

 Richard was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

 He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing his guitar, and pouring concrete. He especially loved spending time with his children. Richard loved taking trips with the kids to ride side-by-sides in the southeast.

 Visitation for Richard will be held on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral services at 12:00 PM at the Athens Christian Church with Rev. Shane Baker officiating.

 Memorial contributions can be made to the Grant Withers Benefit Fund at Petefish, Skiles & Co. Bank in Petersburg for his children.
