Richard "Dick" Dosier

Richard “Dick” Dosier, age 91, passed away peacefully at home, near Greenview on August 17, 2024.

He was born in Peoria, Illinois, the son of Paul and Martha (Hintz) Dosier.

Dick married Dalora Edwards on August 8, 1954, at the Greenview Christian Church in Greenview, Illinois. 

Mourning his passing are his wife of 70 years, Dalora; children, Gail Weber of Clarendon Hills, IL, Coni (Edwin) Whitcomb of Greenview, and Marsha (Dennis) DeBennette of Kenosha, WI; grandchildren, Jared (Lauren) Whitcomb, Caleb (Brianne) Whitcomb, Grant Weber, and Marissa Weber; great-granddaughter Emersyn Whitcomb; several cousins; and friends.

Dick attended the Bee Grove one-room grade school and graduated from Greenview High School in 1951. 

He was a farmer in the Greenview area, retiring in 2008. 

Dick was an involved resident in the community. He was a member of Greenview Christian Church and was a deacon for several years. He served on the Greenview School Board and Greenview Fire Board and was the president of both for several years. He was elected and held the position of Menard County Road Commissioner for over 30 years. In addition, Dick was a member of local fraternal organizations: Greenview Masonic Lodge #653 (past Worshipful Master); New Salem Shrine Club (past President); Ansar Shrine Temple; and Springfield Scottish Rite. 

Dick loved to attend the Menard County Fair and Illinois State Fair. He enjoyed going to farm sales and tractor pulls. He competed in area tractor pulls in his younger years. He especially loved spending time with his family. 

A visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of memorial services at 11:00 AM on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children in St. Louis or a charity of choice.
