Regina Port, age 78, of Athens died Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She is survived by her son, David Port; two daughters, Debra Kunkel and Nancy Ackerman; sister Patty Hill; five grandchildren, Patricia Blair, Candice Lashbrook, Brandy Moriarty, Christopher Bennett, and Lisa Montgomery; fifteen great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
Regina was preceded in death by five brothers, Otto, Maurice, Noah, Paul, and John Plopper; four sisters, Josephine Muffick, Ida Hancock, Martha Phillips, and Mary “Tish” Noonan; and great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Montgomery.
She was born August 16, 1936, in Morrisonville, IL, the daughter of John and Mary Durbin Plopper.
She married Alan Port on December 29, 1954 in Springfield, he preceded her in death in 2002.
Regina was very involved with the Holy Family Catholic Church in Athens. She loved her beloved cats and dog, Lilly.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church in Athens.
Rev. Thomas Holinga will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
Memorials can be made to the St. John’s Breadline.

The Port Family was our neighbor since 1966 and we have so many memories from over the years. You have our sympathy and know your golden memories will bring you comfort. Deanie was a great person with a large heart. May she rest in peace.
