Gary L. Rapp, age 67, of Carroll, Iowa, formerly Athens, passed away on July 6, 2018.
He was born November 25, 1950 in Pekin to Benjamin and Audrey Rapp.
Gary married Rebecca Whitcomb on November 22, 1970. They later divorced. He married Carrie Agrall on December 5, 1992.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents Benjamin and Audrey; brother, Duane; and nephew, Randy.
He is survived by his wife, Carrie; brother, Larry (Sharon) Rapp, one son, Christopher of Decatur; three daughters, Crystal (Frank) Houston of Auburn, Stacey (Craig) Stevens of Athens and Kirsten of Athens; 14 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Gary was a graduate of Athens High School, attended Lincoln Land Community College, and served his country as sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. Upon discharge he farmed in Broadwell and Pleasant Plains, managed an agricultural co-op, then established a construction/electrical business. He was an Entrepreneur in Residence at Valparaiso University’s College of Engineering. Gary partnered with several companies marketing his livestock odor control inventions until his death.
He was a member of Peace Lutheran Church, Glidden Iowa where he participated in the adult choir.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 10, 2018 from 5:00 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home. An additional visitation will be held Wednesday, July 11 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral services at 10:00 AM also at the funeral home with Rev. John Johnson officiating. Interment will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Petersburg.
Memorial contributions may be made to The National Pork Industry Foundation Scholarship Fund or Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, Central Illinois District.

I worked with Gary for a few years at Juergen Feed In Carroll Iowa he was a great guy that always had a smile and cared for others. He will be missed! Keeping family and friends in my prayers RIP Gary

So very sorry to hear about Gary’s passing. He was a great guy and we have alot of fond memories from Fancy Prairie and AHS days. RIP Gary!
