Shirley Prince, age 72, of Springfield, passed away on Wednesday, January 29, 2014 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She is survived by one son, Mark Prince; one daughter Kim Prince; one grandchild Crystal Prince; one sister Donna Miller; one niece Tracy (Dave) Rawlings; one great-nephew Troy Rawlings; and long time companion Ron Gerber, along with a multitude of close friends she considered family.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents; 2 twin sons Timothy John and James Michael; aunt and uncle Helen and Johnny Gajewski; and one nephew Troy Miller.
She was born on August 1, 1941 in Springfield the daughter of Raymond and Gussie Lloyd Gajewske.
Shirley graduated from Athens High School and attended Robert Morris College in Springfield.
She was employed by Menard Electric, Marathon Oil Co., Pizza Hut, Capitol Plumbing and Heating, and an in home daycare provider for many years.
She was a member of Indian Point Presbyterian Church in Athens and Calvary Temple Church in Springfield.
Shirley was a basketball fanatic and an avid reader. Her passion was children and having open arms to those who needed love.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 from 10 AM until time of service at 11 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL.
Rev. Mark Johnson will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Springfield, IL.
Memorials can be made to Ronald McDonald House Charity in Springfield, IL or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Family is being served by Mott & Henning Funeral Home, in Athens, IL.
