Phyllis McCoy, age 84, of Athens, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021 at her residence.
Phyllis was born January 19, 1937 in Athens, Illinois, the daughter of Kenneth and Alma (Richardson) Jenkins.
She married Melford “Sonny” McCoy on December 24, 1954 in Athens. He preceded her in death on May 14, 2002.
She is survived by her son, Michael (Toddene) of Ashland; three daughters, Vicki Ellis of Grand Junction, CO, Doris (Jerry) Wells, and Laci Homer both of Athens. Phyllis was grandma to ten grandchildren, Jason, Christy, Tanitha, Matthew, Lindsay, Royce, Meghann, Jake, Ashleigh, and Zane; and great-grandma to eighteen great-grandchildren; She is also survived by brother-in-laws, Charles “Mac” (Eldene) McCoy and Paul “Terry” (Janet) McCoy; sister-in-law, Barbara McCoy; and several nieces and nephews.
Phyllis is also preceded in death by a grandson, David McCoy, her parents, a brother, Kenneth “Jarbo” Jenkins; sister-in-law, Zelda Edwards; and brother-in-law, Buford McCoy.
She worked many years and retired from Menard Electric, all while helping raise cattle and farming.
Visitation for Phyllis will be held on Monday, April 26, 2020 from 12:00 Noon until time of funeral service at 2:00 PM at Mott & Henning Henning Funeral Home in Athens with Rev. Milt Crain officiating
Burial will be at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens, IL.
Memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
