Paul Michael Forgas

Paul Michael “Mike” Forgas, age 74, of Petersburg, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Springfield Memorial Hospital.

He was born on April 3, 1949, in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Paul and June (Krug) Forgas.

Mike married Judy Trainor on May 9, 1970, at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Springfield.

Mourning his passing are his beloved wife, Judy; son, Michael Forgas; seven siblings, Chris (Bill) Parker, Henry (deceased, Patricia) Forgas, Bill Forgas, Matt (Beth) Forgas, Tim (Mary) Forgas, Melissa (Tom) Davis and Susan Bryant; and sister-in-laws, Jeanne (Jeff) Miller and Jill (Mike) Loeser; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Martin “Marty” Forgas.

Mike served 27 years with the Springfield Fire Department and retired as a captain.

He served four years in the U.S. Air Force, serving 1 year in Thailand.

Mike was a member of the VFW.

Visitation will be held on Saturday April 6, 2024, from 9:00 AM until time of funeral services at 11:00 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.

Private burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield.
