Norma “Jean” Kincaid, age 92, of Springfield, passed away on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Jean was born on August 7, 1926 near Athens, Illinois, the daughter of John and Kathryn Brinkmeyer Prince.
She married James Andrew Kincaid on April 6, 1956 at Sweetwater Presbyterian Church.
Jean is survived by her husband, James Andrew; son, Paul (wife Stephanie) Kincaid; daughter, Lori (husband Chuck) Hlavach; grandchildren, Jake (wife Alexis) Hlavach, Molly Kincaid (companion David Paine), Chelsea Hlavach, Rachel Kincaid (husband Steven Bland), and Hayley Kincaid; and several nieces and nephews, most of whom reside in Greenview area.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Lois Ann Davis.
Jean worked for Montgomery Ward for many years as a bookkeeper. She was a housewife and an awesome grandmother. Jean loved to watch her grandchildren’s sporting and school activities.
She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan since 1942. Jean had several cabinets full of countless cardinal statues. She was Jim’s co-pilot for their epic motorcycle trips across two countries. The Kincaid girls loved her pancakes -everyone loved going to grandma’s house.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 3:00 until 5:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 1, 2019 at 10:00 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home with Dr. Joe Eby officiating.
Burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Greenview.
Memorials can be made to the Northside Children’s Library at Third Presbyterian Church in Springfield.

Remembering Jean’s wonderful and gentle soul will forever remain in our hearts. We will never forget your dedication to others, especially to my parents in their later years.

My is breaking over the fact that I am unable to join my family in celebrating Jean’s life and saying goodbye. Many of my fond childhood memories have Aunt Jeanie in them. She is going to be missed.

I was very sad to hear of Jean’s passing and am sorry we aren’t there to say goodbye. It was always a pleasure to catch up with you and Jean whenever our crossed paths. I know my parents greatly appreciated your friendship over the many years our family’s have known each other.
