Nancy Terrell

Nancy Terrell, age 89, of Lincoln, formerly of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at Copper Creek Memory Care in Lincoln, Illinois.

She was born March 27, 1933 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of John J. and Mary E. (Olds) Bender.

Nancy married Joseph Raymond Terrell on September 1, 1951.  He preceded her in death in 1981.

Mourning her passing are her sister, Judith (husband Charles E.) Nance of Athens and five nieces.

She is also preceded in death by a daughter, Deborah K. Terrell in 2002 and one sister, Pat Beal in 1993.

Nancy graduated from Athens High School in 1951 and then started her working career on June 5, 1951 at Fiat-Allis in Springfield, and retired there on October 31, 1982.  She later started work with the State of Illinois on August 1, 1984 and retired from there on December 31, 1991.

Mrs. Terrell is a member of the Athens Christian Church where she taught the 3 year old class for 36 years (as of 2003).  She volunteered with the Athens Daily Bread 5 days/week.  She was a member of AARP and Golden Eagles Club in Athens.  She was a Menard County Election Judge (South Athens) for many years.

Graveside services for Nancy will be held on Tuesday August 2, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens with Rev. Ken Gennicks officiating.
