Mary Louise Pankey, age 91, of Elkhart, Illinois, passed away on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital.
She is survived by her children, Gene (Joan) Pankey of Sherman, Larry (Diane) Pankey of Pleasant Plains, Donald (Stephania) Pankey of Springfield, and Deanne (David) Barker of Elkhart; step-sister, Phyllis (Bob) Hahn; step-brother, Jerry (Marlene) Olson; four sister-in-laws, Joanne Baugher, Ruth (Fritz) Werkman, Gladys Guinn, and Nancy Pankey; twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Mary Louise is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; siblings, Noami Beare and Marshall Baugher; a great-granddaughter, and an infant grandson.
She was born November 16, 1924 in Fancy Prairie, Illinois, the daughter of Donald and Martha Marie Baugher.
Mary Louise married Harold Pankey on November 11, 1945 in Fancy Prairie at her mother’s home by Rev. Bryan Miller.
She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1942 and attended University of Illinois.
Mary Louise was a member of the Elkhart United Methodist Church. She was a wonderful wife and mother.
She was a librarian for Elkhart Library for several years.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday April 20, 2016 from 6:00 until 7:00 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.
An additional visitation will be held from 10:00 until time of funeral services at 11:00 AM on Thursday April 21, 2016 at 11:00 at Elkhart Methodist Church.
Rev. Darrell Howard will be officiating.
Burial will be held at Elkhart Cemetery.
Memorials can be made to the Elkhart United Methodist Church.
Family is being served by Mott & Henning Funeral Home, in Athens, IL.

To the entire family, we are deeply saddened, but happy for Mary that she is not suffering anymore. We are in faith, sure that besides the Lord telling her, “well done my good and faithful servant you may enter ” that Harold was there waiting for her, can not say enough about her. Kind, thoughtful always a good and loving person. In sympathy and love
