Mary Lou Nevitt, age 87, of Springfield, formerly of Sherman, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2023 at her residence.
She is survived by her son, Greg (Susan) Nevitt of Springfield; several nieces and nephews.
Mary Lou is preceded in death by her husband, Paul; brothers, Donald, Robert, “Deak”, Keith, Merrill, and Harold Wolfe; and sister, Margaret Oestreicher
She was born July 3, 1935 in Pinckneyville, the daughter of Herbert Ellsworth and Sarah Craig Wolfe.
Mary Lou graduated from Pinckneyville High School in 1953.
She married Paul Nevitt on May 19, 1962 in Pinckneyville.
Mary Lou worked for the Illinois Department of Secretary of State, Horace Mann, and State Income Tax Department.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 from 10:00 AM until time of funeral service at 12:00 Noon at Mott and Henning Funeral Home, Athens, Illinois. Immediately after the services, burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
Memorials can be made to the Athens Christian Church.
