Martin Nevitt, age 82, of Havana, passed away on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Havana Health Care Center in Havana.
He was born on February 11, 1935 in Springfield, Illinois, the son of Clyde and Stella Nevitt.
He married Joan O’Neal on April 23, 1960 at the Athens Christian Church.
Martin is survived by his wife, Joan; daughter, Lisa (Mark) Griffeth; grandchildren, Andrew, Annilee Griffeth; a brother, Paul (Mary Lou) Nevitt; and one nephew, Greg (Susan) Nevitt.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Martin was a member of the Scottish Rites and Athens Van Meter Lodge #762.
He retired from Multicraft Industries in Mississippi as a tool and die maker.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 1:30 until time of funeral services at 2:30 PM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens with Rev. Bill Boyce officiating.
Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
Memorials can be given to Mason District Hospital Cardiac Rehab or the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.

Joan and Lisa and family, my deepest sympathies on your loss. I have fond memories of all the time I spent at the Cottage every summer growing up. Martin refinished a baby trunk for my momand she gave it to me for Christmas. I still have it. Martin was a good man.

Joan and Lisa, my heart is breaking for you. Martin was a great guy and I’m so glad to have known y’all. You all were like an extended part of my family when we visited my grandparents at Matanza Beach. I”‘ll be praying for comfort for you.
