On September 12, 2017, Marshall E. Starr, age 89, of Greenview, passed away at his residence.
Marshall was born on October 21, 1927 in Petersburg, Illinois the son of James and Ethel Neat Starr.
He is survived by a son, Michael (Barb) Starr; two daughters, Gloria Starr and Karen Ferguson; grandchildren, Edward (Jana) Ferguson, Jon (Miyuki) Ferguson, Vanessa (Vlatko) Ferguson, Anthony Starr, Kent (Andrea) Starr, Charlie Otto, and Stacey (Mike) McCarthy; seven great-grandchildren, Edward Ryan, Evan, Lina, Leo, Heaven, and Haley; one brother, Richard Starr; one sister, Eleanor Whiteman; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Martha; three brothers, Loren, John, and Phil; three sisters, Dorothy, Margaret, and Effie; and his parents, James and Ethel Starr.
Marshall served in the US Army. He served for Task Force Frigid in Alaska.
He worked for the GM&O and ICG Railroad for 38 years.
Graveside services will be held on Friday, September 15, 2017 at Sugar Grove Cemetery near Sweetwater at 10:30 AM.
Memorials can be made to Menard County Rescue.

Sorry to hear about your father passing. Knowing he loved the Lord and we will see him again brings some comfort, but we still feel the loss in this life. Marsha and I will be praying for you and yours.
