Luella F. Finch

Luella F. Finch, age 90, of Bloomington, formerly of Athens and Sherman, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2016 at her residence.

She is survived by two sons, Jerry Finch of Vinton, VA, Jim (Cathy) Finch of Bloomington, IL; four grandchildren, Tomika Finch of Thaxton, VA, Michael Finch of Springfield, TN, Melissa (Jacob) Kummer of Bloomington, IL, and Andrew Finch of Los Angeles, CA; one great-grandson, Jackson Kummer; two sisters, Dorothy Flattery of Leon, KS and Phyllis Kingsley of Leon, KS.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin on September 18, 2007 and a daughter, Susan on April 10, 2001.

Mrs. Finch was born October 4, 1925 in Wilmot, Kansas, the daughter of George and Elsie (Simons) Sphar.

She married John Melvin Finch on February 16, 1947.  Luella and Melvin farmed near Fancy Prairie for many years until their retirement on January 17, 1984.

She was a member of the Indian Point Presbyterian Church for many years.  She was a cook for the Athens School District for many years and worked for the State of Illinois Department of Public Aid.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 12, 2016 from 9:30 until 10:30 AM with services following at 10:30 AM at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, Illinois.

Pastor Sandi Woodard will be officiating.

Burial will be at Indian Point Cemetery.

Memorials can be made to the Indian Point Presbyterian Church or American Cancer Society.
