Lisa R. Malinak

Lisa R. (Barry) Malinak, age 68, of Athens, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Lisa was born December 18, 1955 in  Macomb, Illinois, the daughter of the late Tom and Mildred (Horrell) Barry.  

She married John Malinak, Jr. on June 14, 1987 in Macomb, IL.

Mourning her passing are her children, Bridget (Gary) Moffitt of Athens, IL, Barry (Sarah Kosel) Woodford of Macomb, IL, Jamie Malinak of Fredericksburg, VA, Kristin (Michael) Milligan of Kankakee, IL and Ashley Sunley of Flossmoor, IL; eleven grandchildren, Alex, Anna, Anthony, Stella, Isla, Brandon, Cain, Fallyn, Henry, and Lane; brother, Mike Barry of Macomb, IL; sister, Jan (Rick) Stoneking of Colchester, IL; sister-in-law, Deb (Gary) VanBeck; mother-in-law, Wilma Malinak; and several nieces, nephews, and many friends.                   

She is preceded in death by her husband, John on January 21, 2016.

Lisa was a graduate of Macomb High School in 1974.

She worked at various jobs in Macomb before moving to Athens in 2003, where she worked for the City of Athens as Billing Clerk.

Lisa enjoyed flowers, crocheting, swimming and sunning in her pool. She especially enjoyed girls trips to the beach. She took accomplishment and pride in being a “Nana” to her grandchildren.

Visitation for Lisa Malinak will be held from 1:00 PM until time of funeral service at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.  

Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
