Linda Pedigo, 78, of Athens, died Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Regency Nursing Home in Springfield.

Linda was born in Springfield to Louis and Betty Bell. She was raised by her grandparents Everett and Leland Hall.

She is survived by her sons, Jeff (Karen) Stott of Athens and Aaron Pedigo of Athens; a daughter, Amber Pedigo of Springfield; grandchildren, Bryce Stott and Abigail Stott of Springfield, Melody Birch, Donald (Donnie) Ford and Christopher Ford of Peoria, and Sawyer Pedigo of Springfield; brothers, Everett Bell of Springfield and Mike Bell (Kay) of Sheffield; sisters, Clarilee Belt of Greenview and Lois Warner (Bob) of Fountain Hills, Arizona; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and her church family at Athens United Methodist Church.

Linda graduated from Athens High School, class of 1963.

She married Don Pedigo in 1971 and he preceded her in death.

Most of her working career was as a Public Aid caseworker in Menard and later Sangamon Counties. She was involved with the Athens Public Library and was on the board of the Athens Area Food Pantry from its inception, serving many years as President. She was very humbled to be selected as Grand Marshall of the 2018 Athens Fall Festival in honor of her work within the community.

Because of her love for the Athens Area Food Pantry the family suggests that an item or two of a non-perishable food item be brought to the service so a memorial display can be built at the front of the church.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 26, 2024 at the Athens United Methodist Church, 110 W Jackson Street, from 9:00 until 11:00 AM with services following. An elevator can be accessed by entering the church on the lower level of the church.

 Please dress for your comfort.

Mott & Henning Funeral Home is assisting the family. On-line condolences can be shared at www.mottandhenning.com.
