Leota M. Anderson

Leota Mae Anderson, age 94, of Springfield, passed away on, Wednesday April 29, 2015 at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.

She was born July 12, 1920 in rural Sherman, IL, the daughter of Emma and Burgess Cunningham.

Leota married Walter D. Anderson on September 25, 1945 and he later preceded her in death in 1997.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her son, W. Stephen Anderson; a brother, Newton Cunningham; and a sister, Helena Claypool McFadden.

Surviving are her granddaughter, Summer Anderson of Pineville, KY a great-grandson, Eli Anderson of Pineville, KY; nieces, Emma Lankford of Springfield and Ramona Flagg of Sherman; nephews, Carl Claypool of Springfield, Robert Cunningham of Springfield, and Donald Claypool of New Berlin.

Memorial services will be held at Elm Street Christian Church, 3020 East Elm Street, Springfield, IL at 3:00 PM on Sunday, May 3, 2015 with Rev. Seth Schnautz officiating.

Burial of cremains will be at a later date in Parksville, B.C. Canada.

Family is being served by Mott & Henning Funeral Home, in Athens, IL.
