Lela M. Brown

Lela Brown, age 88, of Riverton, departed on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Oak Terrace in Springfield. She was born August 26, 1928 in Springfield, Illinois, the daughter of Alsie and Emma Pope Mitts.
Lela was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne; sister, Eleanor Vignali; uncle, Melvin Mitts, and cousin, Edna Cravens.
She is survived by daughter, Rose (Don) Grant; two sons, Edward (Christina) Brown and Terry (Nancy) Brown; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Caleb Brown; one niece, Janice (John) Himelsbach, and cousins, Eldon Muench and Margie McVickers.
Lela was employed by Illinois Department of Revenue for a number of years; attended Blackburn College and Springfield College in Illinois; loved to spend time in her garden and at home on the farm.
Private services will be held at a later date.
