Gerald Leon Lawson, age 90, of Springfield, formerly of Athens, passed away on March 31, 2009 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
Survived by:Spouse : Dorothy E. Children :Gary (Pat) Lawson of Decatur -Marcia (Guy) Kolb of Woodbridge, VA
Sister – Dorothy Basso of Rantoul Area
Grandchildren -Greg (Suzie) Lawson and Andy (Emily) Lawson Great-grandchildren -Landon, Brady and Rylan Lawson

Mr. Lawson was born January 21, 1919 in Athens, the son of Thomas Walter and Edith Pearl Clemens Lawson.
He married Dorothy Walsh on June 20, 1943 in St. Charles, Missouri.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Orville Lawson; and a sister, Meredith Leka.
He graduated from Athens High School in 1937. Gerald served in the U.S Navy from 1938-1959 retiring as a Chief Electricians Mate.
He is a member of the First Christian Church in Springfield.
Visitation will be held Friday April 3, 2009 from 9:30 until time of funeral service at 10:30 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens.

I remember your Father when he worked at Sears with my Dad, Chester Staley. I always enjoyed hearing about his children and conversing with him.
