Albert E. Kincaid, age 91, of Athens, passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at his residence.

Albert is survived by his wife, Jean; a son, Albert “Bert” (Donna) Kincaid of Athens; a daughter, Alexis Kay (Mike) Cantrall of Athens; step-daughters, Diane (Pat) McCormick of Athens, Nancy (Roger) Bounds of Petersburg, and Carol (Jack) Van Dyke of Schererville, IN; nine step-grandchildren; and 24 step-great grandchildren.

Albert was born November 1, 1920 near Athens, the son of Harold and Dorothy Shaw Kincaid.

He is preceded in death by a brother, Harold Dale Kincaid, his first wife, Mary in 1985, and a step-son, Jerry Hughes in 2005.

He graduated from Williamsville High School in 1939.

Albert married Mary L. Ward in 1942 and later married Jean Hughes in 1994.

He worked at Pillsbury, Allis-Chalmers, and later farmed in the Athens area for over 40 years.

Albert was a member of the Indian Point Presbyterian Church near Athens. He was a 40 year member and Past-President of the Athens Rotary Club. Albert was also a Past-President of Menard County HIA, and board member of the Menard County Cemetery Association, Menard County Historical Society, Riverton-Lavely Lodge #786, and past board member of the Culver Fancy Prairie Co-op.

Visitation will be held at Mott & Henning Funeral Home, where friends may call from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Monday, February 20, 2012. Funeral services will be held there on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 at 10:30 AM.

Rev. William Swaar will be officiating.

Burial will be held at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens.

Memorials can be made to Indian Point Presbyterian Church or the Athens BLS.

  1. What a sweet, gentle, kind man. I’ll always remember Albert and how he was always so glad to see me. The world won’t be quite right without Albert in it.

    Albert was a wonderful man and we always enjoyed talking with him, especially about Athens and Menard County history. He will be missed by many, many friends.
