Kenneth E. Parks, Sr.

Kenneth E. Parks Sr., age 76 of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his home.

Kenneth was born on March 21, 1938 in Flint, MI, the son of Warren and Margaret (Parrott) Parks.

He is survived by two children, daughter Vickie (Terry) Harvey of Springfield, son Kenneth E. Parks, Jr. of Florida; three grandchildren Christopher & Catherine Harvey and Cassie Hornstein; one great-grandchild Lucas Hornstein; one brother William (Mary Jo) Parks of Michigan; two sisters Ellen (Chuck) Hiatt of Virginia, Clauda (Wayne) Farren of Michigan; and several nieces and nephews.

Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife Annette in 2012, his parents Warren Adrian Parks and Margaret Ellen Parrott, and one grandchild James Earl Harvey in 1984.

He married Annette L. Bryant on December 31, 1956 in Petersburg, IL.

Kenneth honorably served his country in the United States Airforce from August of 1956 until August 1962. He later became a coal miner for Monteray Coal Company, Cantrall Coal Company, and retired from the State of Illinois (EPA).

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 4, 2014, from 10 until 11 AM with funeral services to follow at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens, IL.

Rev. Paulette Cott will be officiating.

Burial will be held at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
