Kenneth Babcock, age 88, of Sherman, formerly of Athens, passed away on Tuesday, March 28, 2023 at his residence.

He was born April 16, 1934 in Athens, Illinois the son of Lawrence and Olive (Rosso) Babcock.

Kenneth married Jo Ellyn Cline on October 20, 1954.

Mourning his passing are his wife, Jo; daughters, Connie (husband Jimmy) Goddard of Georgia and Cathy (husband Tom) Miller of Fancy Prairie; three grandchildren, Chris (wife Christi) Matzke, Tyler (wife Sarah) Miller, and Clayton (wife Meghan) Miller; five great-grandsons; and two nieces, Cindy Alliss and Susan Rivaitt.

He is preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Matzke; one brother, John Babcock; one sister, Norma Teichman; and five nephews.

Kenneth graduated from Athens High School in 1953.

After graduating from high school, he worked for Rath Hardware.  He then served for the Illinois Air National Guard for 38 years.

He was a member of the Indian Point Presbyterian Church near Athens.

Kenneth enjoyed woodworking throughout his life.

Private graveside services will be held at Indian Point Cemetery near Athens.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Indian Point Presbyterian Church.

    I was saddened by the news of Kenny’s passing. Many special remembrances of our times of growing up in the Indian Point church came to me as I thought about you all. I remember Kenny as a quiet and gentle man who was always so active in the church.
