Kathryn “Kay” Baugher, age 95, formerly of Fancy Prairie, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018, at Sunny Acres Nursing Home in Petersburg.

She was born on January 9, 1922, on Champion Row, Pleasant Plains, to William Harris “Hack” and Lou Ella Humphress Greer. She later graduated from Athens High School and Browns Business College.

Kay married Kenneth Baugher on November 1, 1945 at the Presbyterian Church in Fancy Prairie. He preceded her in death. May 30, 1984.  She then married John Martin (deceased) at Cantrall Methodist Church on October 17, 1999.

She is survived by two sons, Dean (Margaret) Baugher and Mark (Marcia) Baugher; grandchildren, Barbara (Steve) Miller, Kristen (Edgar) Lay, Brandy (Clay) McCliton, Eric Baugher, and Jessie Baugher; and six great-grandchildren.

Kay was a member of the Cantrall United Methodist Church.  She was a member of the Springfield Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame and Elmer C Fisher 700 Bowling Club.

Visitation for Kay will be held from 9:00 until time of funeral services at 10:00 AM on Friday, January 12, 2018 at Mott & Henning Funeral Home in Athens. Burial will be held at Walnut Hill Cemetery near Williamsville.

Rev. Paulette Cott will be officiating.

Memorials can be given to Juvenile Diabetes Assocation.

Mott & Henning Funeral Home is assisting the Baugher family.

  2. So sorry to hear of Kay’s passing. She was an amazing lady… always had a smile & wiling to help anyone in need! Especially with bowling! She will be missed. Knowing that she is at Peace & at home with the Lord will bring you some comfort.

  3. So sorry to hear of Kay’s passing. I always enjoyed talking with her at the bowling alley and even lucky enough to bowl in the 700 club doubles tournament with her and we had fun. She was a wonderful lady and will be missed.

  4. What a beautiful woman KAY was!. Her beautiful smile was radiant!. The world will miss her, and so will we!
